GAWK - 'The instruction at "0x776322e9" referenced memory.....tha t could not be read'

Hi,
 
We use gawk.exe version 3.0.3 on a windows NT4.0 SP5 system.
We have several scripts calling each other and we get the following error
regularly.
 
'gawk.exe - Application Error - The instruction at "0x776322e9" referenced
memory.....that could not be read'
 
Usually it helps to shorten the arguments given to gawk. We do this by
relocating the used
files or changing to folder names thus shortening the path.
 
Sometimes it just seems to happen at random. A script may fail, but succeed
when started
again with exactly the same parameters. 
 
I don't know if this is an NT bug, but any help or info on the subject would
be appreciated.
