grep: write errors reported when writing to a pipe

The most recent update from Red Hat changed something in grep which has
cron scripts spewing lots of non-fatal messages to stderr now.
(grep RPM version 2.5.1-24.5 to 2.5.1-24.6).

It seems to happen when grep writes to a pipe and the pipe is closed by the reader, and the write error is reported to stderr (when it didn't used to be). The construct 'grep something /path/file | head -1' generates it frequently, but the messages are not reproducible. They only appear from cron jobs, but not every instance of grep (traced with 'sh -x'), and I couldn't generate it by running the same script at the command line.
