Hi Arnold,
I have changed to gawk version 3.1.6 and been able to reproduce the
fault.
Should I send awk code and a description how to reproduce the fault to
you ?

Right. Any version of awk will do that.

It's not clear why this happens. Please retry with 3.1.6, and make sure
that there is a server listening on the given port.
