Settings... Appearance General
The settings:
_Translucent chequers_
and
_Numbered point labels_
are disabled by default.
It seems to me (personal opinion though) that both settings have to be
enabled by default.
Why?
A first time user wanting to change the appearance of the checkers (GNU
calls them chequers), will not discover the meaning of 'Opacity'.
A first time user does want to see the numbered points
