First: I am not a Linux user/expert, nor a C/C++ programmer.
But:
It's seems to me, ESD is used to play sounds in the latest GNUBg build.
I can't find a Win32 version of ESD.
(well... I find a Delphi source)
I did find FMOD.
For both Linux, Win32 and WinCE (thinking here of the guy building a CE
version of GNUBg)

If someone has spare time (who has??) and just could tell me:
