The double decision requires both rollouts as well as the equity for
"double, pass".

You're right that often you need both values (and double,pass is just +1 EMG of course), but not always:

If it's a take, yes. But there's also doubling decisions where the pass might be trivial (double/take equity >> 1), and the only question is whether it's too good (no double eq > 1) or double/pass; then you're only interested in the upper row of a cube decision rollout.

A bit similar to the scenario where the double is clear and you're only interested in the take decision, and you only need the bottom row a cube decision rollout.

Seems like an interesting option to me, since it can speed up such a rollout by quite a lot I think. Especially when a position is close to "too good", rolling out the sceanrio with opponent owning the cube could mean a long game (recubes/passes seem unlikely here), and the result is often not so interesting since it's clear that it's a big drop.
