Here comes trick number two!

There's a file called .gnubgmenurc. Open this in text editor. You will see
lots of lines beginning with ;, and containing some text of and menu item.
In the empty quotes, type the shourtcut you want, and remove the ; in the
beginning of the line. An example line:

(menu-path "<main>/Help/Commands" "F1")

Save the file and restart GNU Backgammon. Your shourcut will be added in
the menu.
The file also serves as a list of the all keyboard shortcuts.
