I agree that when starting a new game or match against GNU, it should
use the last names chosen when playing it, unless one is continuing from
a point in a pre-loaded match/game.

As to why it returns to them after exiting and entering again, it's
because you didn't save the settings before exiting. If you had it would
then show freeman and enassau as the new default names.

In windows Dec 27 build, I find the following problem:

0. Start gnubg
1. I load in a previously saved .sgf file of a match between freeman
and
enassau
2. If I look at the player tab in the settings tab, they are now set to
freeman and enassau
3. After analyzing it the match, I decide I want to play a new game
against
GNU
4. I do file-new-match and it still has freeman and enassau as the
players
on the display and on the settings/player tab.

Shouldn't it revert to my earlier 'global' settings of 'GNU' and
'hanley'
for the
players of a new match?

If I exit gnubg, restart and do a file-new-match, it uses 'GNU' and
'hanley'
as
expected.
