IIRC I had the same problem some time ago and also solved it this way. But dependent on how many matches one wants to import this can be rather tedious because for every match the GTK window opens and waits for a click on OK.
Also, "record add" should imho check for reasonable/valid statistics data. Assume you have a player record from lots of matches, each manually added with great care. Now you load an already analysed match, don't look at the statistics and add it to the record. All the work from before is in vain because the record got messed up with some random data added.
