I have been totally frustrated in trying to run Gnu on my computer. I can install, but as soon as I try to launch it I get a message that it has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

I have downloaded from the Gnu site twice and had a friend download it to a CD for me. It runs on his machine fine.

I have older equipment and Windows 95. Any suggestions?

There is a problem with freetype (a library used by GNUbg) on Win95. You should get yourself the newest install archive from http://home.online.no/~oeysteij/ first, or if yours is sufficiently new, leave your install. Then go to http://users.skynet.be/motiv4u/GNUBgW.htm and download "0.13 devel Build 030330 (without Freetype Changelog 1.1027)" (http://users.skynet.be/motiv4u/gnubg-030330Zip.exe) and unpack it into the folder where you installed GNUbg overwriting the old executable. On this page there are hints on how to do this, too. In case this executable requires a different version of any library, you find the files on http://users.skynet.be/motiv4u/dlls_recent_builds.htm .
