Not exactly. I just went through the gettext documentation.
1. You search for the source
2. You change it
3. (xgettext or msgmerge to create or update a *.pot file) This is done
automatically by the makefile in po/ after compiling the whole source.
4. (gmake update-po) Not neccesary anymore.
5. Look for questionable entries (Those that changed)
6. Update your *.po file.
