[Bug-gnubg] From the viewpoint of a newcomer

I'm seeing GnuBG (Windows version 030805) from the point of view of a
newcomer, and not at all from the point of view of a developer or of a
BG expert. Maybe this will help the developers.

While most of you are concerned with deeper matters, I see things such
as the rollout window with a column of "Rank/no. JSDs", and don't find
the meaning of JSD covered in any documentation I can find, except that
it's some kind of standard deviation.

Thorpe count and Kleinman count similarly, mentioned in Albert Silver's
"All about Gnu BG" but not defined, and no hint of their utility. (Using
Google, I could find what they are, but have no idea if the definitions
I found, from the rec.games.backgammon archive, are the ones used in the
program.)
