The issue of the tutorial is not dependent on the developers, and I will
answer. 

I'm inclined to include an explanation of the JSDs as an explanatory
note, but much less for the Thorpe and Kleinman counts. I could add a
line explaining their purpose, or add a hyperlink to a good explanation
on them (could you share the link that enlightened you on the subject?),
but discussing how they work is outside the scope of the text, and would
be akin to explaining what a pipcount is, a doubling window, etc.
