It sounds as if you are using the Tutor mode, in which case what is
happening is that when you try to roll the dice, it is evaluating
whether you are making a doubling mistake by not doubling.

I have just downloaded the latest edition of gnu, and it often has a
delay, sometimes for quite a long while, before giving me my roll.
