I don't think you should except to see any updates of the players'
records. As discussed earlier the grand plan is to provide some
relational database interface. 

Anyway, you can do Edit->Enter Command: record show XyZ

This might be faster. However, do note the case sensivity of the player
name. I usually have the no gui version of gnubg running so after an invite
I can do:

record show opponentnick
record show mynick

for fast comparison of cube and chequerplay rates, so I can decide if
I'm favourite enough to kick some ass :-)
