We might be able to use initstate()/setstate() to maintain separate ansi random number generators - and srandom() random() instead of srand and rand?

Ps. the default rand() code looks something like:

static int seed = 1;

int rand()
        return seed = ((seed * 1103515245) + 12345) & 0x7fffffff;
