I posted this on GoL, so Jon is aware of it, but I thought I'd stick it
up here also. 

When I calibrate the new release (Feb 16, 2007) it runs for a minute or
two, then suddenly the number becomes negative. It then moves rapidly
toward and past 0, where it continues to climb into positive values.
After a minute or two, the process repeats, with the positive value
suddenly changing to negative then counting up toward and past 0. I'm
running a single processor, hyper-threaded machine.
