The "Select new design and lose current changes?" prompt has been occurring for
at least three years. It only affects 2D designs and does not happen 100% of
the time, although I've yet to determine a pattern for the few occasions when
it correctly opens the design without comment. My workaround is to use two
hands when perusing the boards but naturally that feels a little silly.
The introduction of 3D designs probably introduced this bug; I suspect it's
just one of a few pointer problems that remain (mostly in the 2D code). One
that I haven't reported is when you make a change to a 2D board, it often
prompts you with something like "OK to change <completely different board>?".
The workaround for that is to open another board without losing any changes
then reopen the board you were trying to change.
Another unreported pointer problem occurs when changing a design from a painted
board to a wooden one - it abends. The workaround is to either create a new
design or first open a 3D design and then edit the 2D design.
