Yep.  Looks like I'm the culprit :-)
I removed it from lib/Makefile.am, but not from CVS:

        * lib/Makefile.am (libfu_a_SOURCES): Add addext.c.
        Remove getversion.c;  get_version is now in backupfile.c.
