Forgive my late entry here, but ...

It's just the list of authors.  Can't simplicity reign, and just not do
line breaking?  Just output the string "Written by ...\n", and that's
that, just like every other string.   Almost always it is short, anyway.

I'm not sure whether I'm agreeing with Bruno, Paul, or nobody :).

Heck, here's another choice -- how about not listing the authors at all?
Does it really matter?  I don't think we're obliged to.  And it is a
difficult question as to who is an "author".  I don't think it's the
people listed in AUTHORS, because that's anyone who makes a non-trivial
contribution, basically (according to coding standards, not that many
distributions actually do that).

Just ignore me if I'm being stupid :).
