Would the copyright holders on this module (and those it relies on) be
amenable to allowing it to be used in libtool-2.2 when it arrives?  We
have an additional clause in our license which would otherwise preclude
our use of regular LGPL gnulib modules:

 "As a special exception to the GNU Lesser General Public License,
  if you distribute this file as part of a program or library that
  is built using GNU libtool, you may include it under the same
  distribution terms that you use for the rest of that program."

Changing our terms would have a substantial impact for some of our users.

We have an implementation contributed under these terms already, but
there is no sense in duplicating maintenance effort if it can be avoided.
