I almost always go through the translation project. The only
exceptions have been a couple of cases where the translation contained
syntax errors and/or encoding errors in the .po file which caused
builds to fail.

While we're on the subject, is the translation project on hiatus right
now? They haven't updated the Bison .pot file even though I sent them
email thirteen days ago about the Bison 2.1a version (a version
generated principally in order to get translations), and pinged them
again about it five days ago. Because of the delay I am currently
tempted to release Bison 2.2 untranslated.
