``gnulib-tool time'' is a good time.  That happens once at
time.  I've had way too much experience messing around with compilable
derived files.
They change rarely and are a pain to manage with build tools that presume that
all derived files come from hand edited source.  ``gnulib-tool time''
is perfect.
