Hi Eric,

I made that ,v file executable on the server quite a while ago:

  -r-xr-xr-x 1 69750 Apr 27 13:14 .../gnulib/gnulib/tests/test-closein.sh,v*

Removing the local copy and updating should fix whatever working
directory is having trouble.
