And autoconf uses autom4te under the hood, which is a perl script.
Likewise, some of the other programs of the Autoconf package are
implemented in perl,
But since configure scripts are (primarily) shell, the gnulib-tool
maintainer would most likely need to know about the shell portability
quirks anyway; gnulib-tool in shell doesn't add much more to learn
there.
