Summary: menus update incorrectly when panels are closed

Original Submission: my app has several panels which add items to menus. While
the panel is open I can see that in fact items have been added correctly to the
menus, but when the panel closes, gui updates the menus (refreshes them)
leaving off the added items.

Problem is really a different problem: closing a panel called by a window
doesn't seem always to reselect the calling window. Not severe; maybe more of a
design issue.--Matthew Weinstein (who submitted this.

Could you please provide some example code showing this problem?
