Your post says you've had many problems with packaging. Would you mind
posting a document describing the problems in some detail?
I ask because I've been modifying -make to turn it into a separately
installable build tool. It's going to take some time because of existing
interdependencies we're getting there. Knowing exactly what issues you've
come across will help focus efforts and provide a useful basis for test
cases.
