Follow-up Comment #1:

This behavior is not part of what OPENSTEP or Cocoa is documented to do, so it
is an enhancement.

It will require the spelling system to keep a list of valid dictionaries which
it doesn't currently do.  The spellchecker, GSspell, only knows about the
dictionaries that aspell has.

I will look into doing this.
