As Mart wrote, you can put plugins in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins. Keep in
mind that the plugin may be disabled by default, so you may have
to enable it from about:addons -> Plugins.

I've tested it with libgnashplugin.so and it worked for me:

---8<--- about:plugins ---8<---
Shockwave Flash

    File: libgnashplugin.so
    Path: /home/cyfr0n/.mozilla/plugins/libgnashplugin.so
    State: Enabled
Shockwave Flash 10.1 r999. Gnash 0.8.10, the GNU SWF
    Player. Copyright (C) 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Free

about Gnash, see http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash . Compatible
    Shockwave Flash 10.1 r999.

/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins seems to be ignored though...
