Sounds too much like work to get Solaris UNIX to pretend to
be GNU Linux.  Which it isn't. 

No, I simply deleted the GNU grep from disk. 

However I do see the issue. No one has access to Solaris
anymore and why would they? Oracle totally destroyed that
market and fleeces the remaining trapped customers. 

Sorry for the rant .. but hey, it is the truth. 

If you ever need access to Solaris, I have lots. Public
key gets you what is needed.
