Compilation of groff 1.16.1 fails

Dear Sir(s),

recently (Febrary, 21st) I've installed of a server of mine  Com-
paq  Tru64  V4.0F  plus  the  official  patch  kit  duv40fas0004-
20000613.  Then  I  installed  gcc  v2.95.2  from  scratch  (make
bootstrap  +  make  install)  and  some other free packages, such
gzip, gmake, top and other. All at the latest release  available.
But  the installation of groff v1.16.1 fails, whereas groff v1.15
works fine. The make's log (not gmake) follows in attachment.
