Right now I'm in the process of applying your formatting changes.
Walking over the many reports, I stumbled across the figure dash

While your suggestion to add a `figuredash' macro is probably a good
idea (I won't commit it yet, however, since it needs discussion), your
reasoning how and why to use it is wrong: A figure dash, having the
width of a digit, gets used for dashes that are *part* of a number,
like the American writing of phone numbers.  It is *not* used for
enumerations, for which always the en-Dash should be used.

Consequently, I won't apply related patches.


PS: I guess that applying your formatting changes are my very last
    larger commits to groff.  Hopefully, as soon as a successor for me
    has been found, the remaining issues can be resolved.
