Follow-up Comment #1, bug #61428 (project groff):

  The error message is not helpful,

information about how many lines are minimally needed to escape the
message is missing
  or
show the definition of a "short page length" (< N lines).

and show the actual page length count in lines.

  Analogous message in other macro packages should be adapted.
