[bug #65985] groff make process spews out a huge amount of errors/warnings

I suppose your request for the information below was largely superseded by

Anyway, in case you still want it, I supply it here:

The paper format is reported as:

   checking default paper format... letter

I disabled grohtml in configure.ac as I could not see a configuation option
for it and now all there is left on stderr is some warnings about characters.
I attach the file as well as a file containing the configuration report.
