                 Summary: [grops] -o with out-of-range number produces
incomprehensible error => [troff] `-o` with valid but inapplicable argument
provokes incomprehensible output driver diagnostic

Follow-up Comment #3:

This problem (1) applies generally to output drivers (try `-T ascii`, `-T
dvi`, `-T lj4`, etc.) and (2) is better solved in the formatter, and with the
solution I'm working on now, no change to any output driver is necessary, and
all get the benefit.
