I have not checked the last GRUB versions.
But what is the problem here.
I always thought that the RTL8029 *is* a NE2000/PCI.
I also had the problem with the etherboot package, and there I
did a bug fix to solve that (a forced 16bit setting was removed).

Can you explain the differences to me in the drivers for
NE2000/PCI and RTL8029 ?
