Here it comes:

This patch adds an option "--force-bpb" to the commands install and
setup. This option sets a flag in the boot sector to tell grub that it
should read the geometry from this sector instead of asking the bios.

This patch is necessary for me to boot from Zip disks, but may have
other uses as well.

Problems: Grub currently doesn't write a valid geometry, you have to
do it yourself. I use standard DOS format so if you can format the
disk with mformat to do this.

This patch is not thoroughly tested. If you use it let me know.
