Hi Jeff,
thanks for your help. I am sorry for not posting all the details of my
hardware configuration, my menu.lst, and so on... I did not do it because
I've seen that my problem was already described in the ``BUGS'' file
(hence, I thought it was useless to describe an already known problem).

This works for me too, thanks. What I wanted to do was to load FreeBSD
directly (using ``kernel /kernel'' instead of ``kernel /boot/loader'').
As suggested by Okuji, I will try to have a look at the loader's and
FreeBSD's source code.
