misleading, not a bug per se

OS: RedHat 7.2 (grub that ships with it)

I have many partitions and wish to play hide'n'seek games
with the 2 sets of Windows 98 and Windows 3.11 partitions.
Alas, GRUB does not CLEARLY state in the info-doc that these
games can only be played with the PRIMARY partitions. Further,
when I type "hide (hd0,<TAB>" it shows me a list of ALL 11
partitions BUT only "works" on the first 4. That is not
what I need so I intend to BEAT it into what I need :-)

Here's what it says when I hit TAB:

grub> unhide (hd0,
 Possible partitions are:
Partition num: 0, Filesystem type is fat, partition type
0x1b
Partition num: 1, Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type
0x83
Partition num: 2, Filesystem type is fat, partition type
0x16
Partition num: 4, Filesystem type unknown, partition type
0xb
Partition num: 5, Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type
0x83
Partition num: 6, Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type
0x83
Partition num: 7, Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type
0x83
Partition num: 8, Filesystem type is fat, partition type 0xe
Partition num: 9, Filesystem type unknown, partition type
0x82
Partition num: 10, Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type
0x83
Partition num: 11, Filesystem type is fat, partition type
0xe

nothing PAST '3' works! ARGH!

I think I can use "parttype (hd0,x) 0x*" (hints on *?) but the
documentation has no reference in the hide/unhide to this
command so I'm not sure it's a good idea. Otherwise, I intend to
grab the GRUB source and 'beat-to-fit' for my applications.

Why bother? Win98 screws with Win3.11 partitions and the fact
that Win3.11 is installed there. On the other hand, Win 3.11
needs to have the drives arranged in a certain way because this
is a legacy system and MUST be working. Linux is used to manage
this whole mess and also do backups.

So, not a 'bug' but certainly quite misleading on the doc's
part. A reference to the parttype command in hide/unhide is
also requested. Examples would be nice. I'll write it up
when I'm done... and this will be soon, easy or hard way :-|

Cheers,
Fil
