Hi!
I have been reading the manual and have tried all the examples so I
thought I knew hoe to install GRUB, but somehow I fail and I think it has
to do with my path to the stage2 image. I could really use some help.
I did install LILO again and after that did the usual FDISK /MBR from DOS
but now my computer still complaings about 'Grub Hard disk error' so I'd
like to be able to boot /some/ OS again! (luckily my SuSE Linux CDs
still work...)
So, this is how my computer look like:
I have my Linux / at /dev/hdd5
I have a /boot partition at /dev/hdd4
I have stage1, stage2 and e2fs_stage1_5 (whatever that is!) at /boot/grub
as the manual tells me.
I have tried to do
> find /boot/grub/stage1
and got:
(hd1,3)
as a result. This looks like it makes sense.
doing:
> root (hd1,3)
> setup (hd0)
makes GRUB fail to load stage2 (or is it 1_5?) for some reason.
I tried some other permutations and even tried to install GRUB on a floppy
but no success.
Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong? I'm hoping of booting Windows98
from hda and GNU/Linux from hdd but for some reason I fail.
Any hints appreciated.
