grub on SuperMicro 5011E (P3TSSE)

grub on SuperMicro 5011E (P3TSSE motherboard).
1 GHZ PIII, 512 MB RAM, 20 GB Hard drive.
From the Red Hat 7.2 distribution.
Clean install on a new system with no other OSs
Hangs at grub:
Did an fdisk /mbr
Re-installed Linux with Lilo and it boots.

My other RH 7.2/grub install on an old Dell Optiplex GX1 boots fine.

Don't need any help as I can live with LILO on this single boot box.
