Okay first it boot my workstation fine:
which has 384MB ram and a 2.4.19-rc1-ac3 kernel

I've tested it in vmware workstation with a 2.4.7-ac2 kernel:

with 4MB ram grub runs and finds and loads the kernel but the kernel
panics "Unable to handle paging request" or something like that.

with 8MB ram same thing.

with 12MB ram same thing.

with 16MB ram the system boots fine.
