Grub to boot kernel on Reiserfs

Hi,
I am having no luck in booting GNU/Linux systems with their /boot 
partition as Reiserfs.  Grub isn't recongnizing the filesystem.  I 
am having the exact same problem in trying to boot a Minix system 
on the native Minix partiton.  Could someone tell me how to 
install the stage1_5 for both of these correctly.  When i do,

grub> install (hd0,1)/boot/grub/stage1 (hd0) 
(hd0,1)/boot/grub/reiserfs_stage1_5 (hd0,1)/boot/grub/stage2 -p 
(hd0,1)/boot/grub/menu.lst

I am getting (while booting) something like,
Starting Stage 1.5..
Error 17
It seems that stage 2 isn't loading (i am also not getting the 
menu)
