GRUB and fixed-frequency monitors

Greetings.

My apologies if this subject has been beaten to death, or if this is the
wrong forum.

I'm trying to find information on how to configure GRUB to work with my
Hitachi (HP branded)
monitors.  These monitors work at a limited variety of frequencies and
refresh rates.  They work fine with
Linux and Xfree after Linux boots into X.  

I know GRUB supports multiple graphics modes.  Is there a way to get it to
work properly at an eqivalent to, say, 1280*1024 @75hz
refresh rate?
