Ok. I've added you as a developer on Savannah.

Until you assign your copyright to the FSF, I'd recommend
not checking in your patches, if your patches are big enough,
from the view of the copyright law. If they consist of a few
lines, you don't need to care. Otherwise, wait until all
bothersome work is finished.

Any co-maintainer can do whatever I can do. For example,
releasing a new version on alpha.gnu.org and ftp.gnu.org,
maintenance of copyrights, defining goals of the project.

Also, to make you a co-maintainer, it is necessary to
make a request to the FSF. Once they confirm, you would be
recognized as an official maintainer of the GNU Project.
So you would be invited to private communications in GNU.

Basically, there is no big difference, but you can do more
things related to the project, and you would have to
realize that you have the responsibility of the project. :)

Informally, you would be expected to respond to questions,
suggestions and bug reports, although those are not
your obligation. You would still be a volunteer, so it would
depend on your own will how to deal with contributors.
At the moment, that kind of legwork is done by non-maintainers, such as Jochen,
Thierry and Jason. I'm
really sorry. That must be done mainly by the maintainer
(i.e. me). If you become a maintainer, that would be quite
helpful for me, because I wouldn't feel "sorry" any more. ;)

Best regards,
Okuji
