I am a chinese user,

I use lilo before.

 

Now I try to use grub.

But I meet a problem that only 16M mem were found by grub,but BIOS find 32M all.

 

In the boot menu title,some words means mem amount like (15xxx/16xxx)

 

My old computer:

compaq prosignia 300

cpu:120M

mem:system board 16M

    simm(edo)    16M

redhat liux 6.2

grub version:0.92

 

I tried two methods:

 

1,configure --prefix=/home/grub

  make;make install;

  /home/grub/sbin/grub

  root (hd0,0)

  setup (hd0)

 

  Found such problem was found

 

2,configure --prefix=/home/grub --disable-auto-linux-mem-opt

  make;make install;

  /home/grub/sbin/grub

  root (hd0,0)

  setup (hd0)

  

  The error exists

 

3,boot

  grub>root(hd0,0)

  grub>kernel /vmlinux ro root=/dev/sda5 mem=32M

 

  Grub means 'no so much mem'

 

4,I return to lilo

 

 

But i like GRUB
