I'm surprised by your opinion, considering that you are a Debian developer...
The very reason why I used automake 1.5 was Debian. As you should know, woody
has 1.5, and it is difficult for those who use a stable release to migrate to
1.6 or later.
I'm now using Mandrake Linux mainly (because of my work rather than my own
preference), so I have no strong reason to stick to 1.5 any longer.
So, what do you think about the stable release of Debian? I don't know what
OSes other developers use, but I'm afraid that some people want to use woody
for their own systems.
If there is no problem at the Debian side, I rather like to migrate to
autoconf-2.57 and automake-1.7.2, since I use these versions in another Free
Software project.
Thanks,
Okuji
