Instant On feature

Hi

I don't know if this question belong here, but the author is not interested.
I've got a Fujitsu-Siemens computer, Amilo M3438G with an instant on feature. When pushing a special button, the computer starts up, seemingly skipping POST and then loads Cyberlink PowerCinema Linux. This is a small linux installation in an image file. The software is installed as a regular MS Windows software, but it is only runnable this way.

What I want to know is how it is booting. It seems that the software uses a modified Grub 0.93, with support for NTFS and this Instant On feature. I would like to include the instant on feature in my regular GRUB, so that I can create my own media center using something better than the PowerCinema software, which has a lot of bugs and limitations.

Please, if someone has heard or seen anything like this, or want to dig into this and help me, it would be very appreciated. Parts of the source code can be found at http://www.cyberlink.com/english/products/powercinema/pcm-linux/pcmlinuxgpl.jsp Interesting parts is probably the ion_install software, it seems to patch the GRUB stages to add the Instant On features. However, I'm not familiar with the GRUB sources nor at assembler programming on the x86 platform.

Feel free to email me directly at address@hidden if you can/want to help me. I will post any results if someone is interested.

Thanks

Anders
