Error 22 means:
No such partition
This error is returned if a partition is requested in the device
part of a device- or full file name which isn't on the selected
disk.
So you have somewhere in your menu.lst a wrong (hdx,y) device.
Note that grub-legacy counts partitions from 0.
And BIOS order of the disks isn't always like Linux order.
So if your BIOS loads grub from /dev/sdb then that one is hd0 and not
sda which you might think.
