Having just “insmod vbe” and “terminal_output gfxterm” lines in grub.cfg will cause the computer to reboot using GRUB1.99rc1. Loading a font will prevent this. I've tested this with a USB flash when booting a laptop, and using qemu on my desktop. GRUB1.98 does NOT have the same problem, though http://grub.enbug.org/gfxterm says at least one font should be loaded for text to be displayed. And also there are 'if' statements in the generated grub.cfg to prevent this from happening. |
